Who We Are
Hi, we’re Bret and Stacey and Nakona on Third is a passion project we created for two specific reasons.
The first is we were looking for a specific aesthetic in the pet portrait world. As much as we like some of the existing designs out there, we were looking for a specific style that deeply captures and portrays the personality and temperament of your furry family member.
The second reason is what that love for dogs represents. In 2008, shortly after we got married, Bret lost his step-father in a sudden construction accident. Shortly after that, Nakona, our Siberian Husky, came into our lives and helped us on our road to healing. Grieving and healing from loss is difficult and not any one thing, possession, or moment can take that pain away, but dogs have a special way of helping you find joy regardless of the situation you find yourself in.
Third Street was always the busy downtown street where we lived. Filled with coffee shops, window shopping, tasting rooms, and restaurants, there was always lots of foot traffic on Third Street. Nakona loved taking walks on Third Street, undoubtedly from all the attention she got as a beautiful husky who loved adults and children as much as her other furry companions. This was evident by the whining, I can vividly remember, as we would get closer on our drive there.
We sadly lost our sweet Nakona back in November of 2020 to cancer after 12 long years with her. So, wanting to share our love of dogs as family members, as healers, and as someone who should be remembered on your walls, we created Nakona On Third. Thanks for stopping by.
